Star Forward Signs 4-Year Extensionby Gary Graves | September 11, 2017, 11:07 AM ET
BOSTON, MA – C/RW Nathan MacKinnon signed a four-year, $24 million contract with the Boston Colonials on Friday. It has an average annual value of $6 million.
"I'm really happy to have this out of the way before camp opens," MacKinnon said. "I’ve enjoyed playing in Boston for the first three years and look forward to four more! I want to help this team win, and ownership is committed to winning."
MacKinnon, 21, who was a restricted free agent, was second in scoring last season with the Colonials with 59 points. In his first three seasons with the Colonials, MacKinnon has compiled 63 goals, 103 assists for a total of 166 points.
Graves said Friday that the Colonials and MacKinnon's agent, Steve “Moosie” McCrackin of Elite Sports, negotiated in earnest for 2 months before reaching this agreement.
“Money well spent,” said Graves. “We were happy to lock Nate up (drafted 1st overall in 2013) and feel that he has yet to reach his full potential.”
