Winnipeg Jets (4) vs. Fredericton Express (6)
PredictionsMichel Bourassa: Jets in 6 Matt Burch: Ah well, at least I've got the Canada Conference more or less right. Something seems to be in the air this year, or perhaps it's the water, but something has actually helped the upper tier teams perform like they should in the playoffs this season (well, excluding Norm, of course). This should be a Conference final like no other, and will not dissapoint if you're a fan of hockey. As for these two teams, it's really difficult to pick a winner. Both have done so well through the first two rounds, and both won their series' in 5 or fewer games last round, so resting or lack thereof should be a non-issue. That said, I have to go with the Express and their awesome defensive lineup. They've made Rinne look elite going up against some very feisty offenses Express in 6 Guy Flaming: Jets in 6 Gary Graves: Jets in 6 Kasim Husain: The stingy Jets take on the revived Express in a classic tilt between two of the most storied yet underachieving teams in SICHL history. Neither team has been too strongly tested through two rounds, but the numbers don't lie - Lundqvist is lights out in the playoffs, and rookie Rinne's valiant first playoff run will hit a brick wall in the Canadian Conference finals against Winnipeg's veteran team. Jets in 6 Mark MacRae: Coming into this series, the Express lead all playoff teams in goals for per game with 4.6, while the Jets lead in goals against per game with 1.9. Something's gotta give. For the Express franchise, this is the furthest they've ever made it in the playoffs, so no matter what happens they should be proud. The Jets, meanwhile have been close before and now that the SICHL's all-time leading scorer seems ready to retire, it would be fitting to finally see him hoist a cup after so many years wasted on teams who choked in the playoffs (*cough*Fire*Ants*cough*). Besides, everybody knows that defence wins cups. Jets in 7 Don Morrison: Ok here we go , these two teams are fresh and ready to rumble. I have one word for you , Henrik Lundqvist , well it is two words and really it is a name , but I think he is a difference maker. Pekka Rinne has been great , but I think he is too green to go all the way to the final. The teams are even , maybe Express have a little more fire power , but I still think King Henrik will drag the Jets to the final. Close series. Jets in 7 Eric Schneider: Our benevolent dictator's met his match against the mighty Jets. They may seem evenly matched, but Michel's built a team which does everything just a little bit better than the Express do. Jets in 6 Henry Skey: Express in 7 |
