Holy crap you Nerds are finally talking about something cool.

I can't wait until they get around to re doing moonraker. It's the best book and probably the worst movie if you don't include the made for tv original casino royale.

I think Craig's best kind was skyfall. The whole WSOP poo poo show they made casino royale ruined that book a second time.

My wife watched the first half with us now that i have it on DVD.  She usually has tastes opposite of mine and far less critical.  She didn't like it.  Particularly during the casino planet scene where they broke out of jail, her exact words were, "it's like a 12 year old wrote this".   Huh

Maybe I'm a simpleton, but I enjoyed it. Maybe it's the nostalgia of the franchise (seeing how I saw episode 4 in the theatres at the age of 7 and I see the whole franchise through those eyes now) and having Luke back, i don't know. But, it's on Netflix now, so I'm rewatching for free and will a couple more times for sure.

Nobody is a simpleton based on movies they like.  I actually laughed quite a bit at "Year One", which is about as close as you can get to a universally panned movie, as well as people questioning whether Jack Black and Michael Cera could recover after such a bad movie.

What I find interesting is how Star Wars geeks like me can find the new movies disappointing, while Star Wars geeks like many of you love it.

I'm guessing my sense of bafflement (it's a word, I looked it up) at how people can totally dislike "Rogue One" and "Solo" is similar to how you guys feel about my dislike of "The Last Jedi" and "The Force Awakens".

Edit - There might be something to the fact that I  started listening to Star Wars audiobooks about a year or two before Disney bought Star Wars and relegated all of those stories to the dust bin of history, so I might be bitter.  Wink

This is undeniably false.

I'm with Matt on this one. Sometimes your brain just wants to check out and watch dumb dookie, and taste in movies and music is subjective. It may inform whether or not you'll be best friends with the person or not, but toxic fandom is getting really irritating.

Like what you like. Don't apologize.

It's totally fine to have a soft spot for a bad movie or weird tastes, but if anyone thinks I'm not silently judging them for their choices they are sadly mistaken.

If you have a Neil Breen film marathon for your friends then that's fine.  If you have a Transformers film marathon for your friends then you are objectively a simpleton and your friends should hate you.  The line is sometimes very clear.

NOTE:  Obviously, I was not including the 80s animated Transformers movie in my example above, because it's quite possibly the greatest film ever made.
